Feburary, 2014...THAT WAS THE MONTH THAT WAS...

We have had a crazy busy year so far...and it's been a blast !!!

January started out with a bang - and we got to travel "out of town" for a special event in Benson, Az. for a medical group of 300 guests.  It's always nice when our clients need our services somewhere else ...and we are able to accomodate their needs !!

We rolled right into a very special new church dedication where we had the pleasure of serving Bishop Kicanas and his special guests at St. Marks Catholic Church at sit down plate served dinner.  What a kind a gracious group of folks these people where !!

Next up was a photo shoot that was crazy fun !!  The first day we served them at Redington Pass..which for those of you that are familar with this place, know - there is absolutely nothing but Arizona blue skies, dirt roads and cactus.  That didn't stop us from putting on the Ritz...and we fed breakfast and lunch to a bunch of Happy Campers - er -uh...photo shooters....  The next day took us to an amazing home where we were able to serve theses same folks a made to order Waffle with all the fixins - and talk about GORGEOUS VIEWS !!!  OMGosh - all we can say is - We Love Our Jobs !!!

Then....in February - all we can say is THAT WAS THE MONTH THAT WAS !!!!
Costa Rica and Fieasta Beach Parties were in the air as we assisted Dunn & Bradstreet with their "Reveal" event (sending 10 lucky employees to Costa Rica !!!),

and their menu was comprised of pure Costa Rican culinary temptations, such as:
The Pura Vida Station:  (Pura vida means "pure life," but more than anything, it's a way of life. This phrase symbolizes the Costa Rican idea of letting things go, and simply enjoying life.).  This station featured a Tantalizing selection of Pork Tenderloin Skewers with Costa Rican Glaze and Mini Tamales wrapped in Banana leaves

The Que camote Station :  (Que camote means - what a yam: this saying is used for everything related to craziness. Example: Ese mae esta camote (That guy is crazy).    This Station had Authentic Fried Yucca that was served on small plates....and just FYI - if you have never had this - you SHOULD -
It Is AMAZING !!!

The Tome Chichi! Station:  (tome chichi! (toe-may chee-chee) Though this phrase has no direct translation, it's essentially a teasing form of "take that!")    had Petite Portions of Ceviche Served with Tortilla Triangle Chips.

And last but not least - The Ser chineado/a Station: (Ser chineado/a  means to be spoiled)    where we served Tres Leche Cake Shots and Arroz Con Leche Shots.

And...you are just going to have to wait for the next time to see the Fiesta Beach Party, The Tres Chic' Hors d'oeurves party and the Movie shoot we did - cause - I have run out of time for now...so...
To Be Continued....

Tucson’s Creative Catering Makes Cowgirl Dreams Come True

Creative Catering LogoIt’s “Cowgirl Up” time for Chicks N Chaps– and Tucson’s Creative Catering knows just how to make it happen. This year, the company is a major sponsor of Chicks N Chaps’ first-time rodeo clinic, which will raise funds for patients and research at theUniversity of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC).  Creative Catering is a family owned and operated business, with husband and wife team of Bill and M.J. Essenmacher, assisted by their three children, Keri, Billy and Tasha.
The company has been in the off-premise catering business since 1985, so it has orchestrated every kind of event imaginable (and some that aren’t!) in Southern Arizona.
CreativeCAteringPrep“Because we live in this community, Creative Catering is stepping up to the plate to assist the Chicks N Chaps’ fundraising effort to benefit The University of Arizona Cancer Center,” said M.J. “We are proud to be a part of this effort, especially since all the funds raised  will stay right here in Tucson. So, we plan and organize, knowing our efforts will benefit so many that need help. And just so you all know – we are having a blast putting our part together for this worthy cause.”
According to M.J., the planning started in January when the company was first contacted to be a sponsor for the event.  And shortly after the first meeting, she and her staff were out buying décor items. Next came the brain storming sessions, menu design, and logistics..
“Buying some of the decor first got our creative juices started, and then – everything just fell into place,” explained M.J.  “Putting events together like this is so much fun – we are so blessed to love what we do.CreativeCateringCosgirlInspiration
We have all done everything in this business from sweeping and mopping floors, to schlepping equipment around and planning, planning and more planning. Oh yeah – taste testing too!  This is the kind of event we we can put our hearts into.”
What does Creative Catering have planned for the Chicks N Chaps event?  “It will be a wonderful experience in the ‘Chick Pit’ that includes a rodeo-themed atmosphere, fabulous food, marvelous company and, of course, a Mimosa Bar,” said Mary Davis, Chicks N Chaps event Co Chair.  “There couldn’t be a more perfect sponsor for this event.  We are so blessed that the Essenmachers have agreed to be part of the Chicks N Chaps family.”

About Chicks N Chaps
CNCTucson
Chicks n Chaps™ Women’s Rodeo Clinics is a 501(c)3 organization that raises money for breast cancer programs, research and patients in local communities, while teaching women about the sport of rodeo in a fun, ‘girls-day-out’ atmosphere.  Last year, the national organization donated more than $500,000 to community programs. All of the money raised in a host community remains in that community. These events bring together thousands of women from all different walks, many of whom have never seen a horse, a cowboy or felt the rush of watching someone ride a two thousand pound animal, to learn about rodeo. Chicks N Chaps™ teaches women how to rope, ride, and have a great country time, all while raising money for breast cancer fighters and survivors.  This is the Tucson Chapter’s first year sponsoring an event.

Time Flies Fast....

..

Here it is February 15th already !!  How does time fly by so fast ??
(And a belated Valentines Day to all !!)

We have been crazy busy planning all kinds of exciting things since the beginning of the year.

One thing is for sure...there are alot of people in Love !
Our Wedding season is off and running, and the Weddings that are being planned are amazing !!

Monica Wallace & Brian Craig are planning a Scottish Wedding at the
Valley The Moon.

Below are 3 pictures.  2 are from The Valley of The Moon, and one is a picture from Scotland.  It's no wonder they choose this magical place to have their Scottish Wedding !

Did You Know The Valley Of The Moon Hosts Weddings And Special Events?

If you are interested in hosting your special event at The Valley Of The Moon contact them at

520-205-2983

A Scottish Wedding blessing

Mìle fàilte dhuit le d'bhréid,
Fad do ré gun robh thu slàn.
Móran làithean dhuit is sìth,
Le d'mhaitheas is le d'nì bhi fàs.

Translated as:

"A thousand welcomes to you with your marriage kerchief,
may you be healthy all your days.
May you be blessed with long life and peace,
may you grow old with goodness and with riches."

This is attributed to the Rev. Donald MacLeod, minister of Duirinish, Skye, Scotland c. 1760.

And Emily is planning an "Enchanted Garden Wedding" in her back yard.  Some of the special details we are thinking about for this Wedding are these adorable container gardens, that can be used in the tablescapes.
Enchanted garden!

And..how about lovely tables like these...how enchanting !!

and perhaps...mini sorbet wedding cakes like these ?

mini sorbet cakes

How refreshing would these be for a June Wedding in Tucson ?

Also on our Wedding Table is the "Casual Classy Wedding" we're in the planning stages of.  At this eclectic  Wedding, we'll be serving BBQ with Southern style coleslaw in Martini glasses, baked beans and cornbread, a creamy corn casserole, and for dessert - cheesecakes, sour cherry pie and double chocolate brownies with a salted caramel topping in jelly jars, like these:
Cheesecakes in jars

Speaking of jars...that's been my newest obsession !  We just recently made chili with corn bread for a Super Bowl Party...so fun, easy - and delicious....
Just use your favorite chili recipe, ladle it into a mason jar, top it with corn bread mix dough and bake it in the oven in a water bath.  While the chili is heating up, the corn bread bakes on top of it.  You'll know it's done when a toothpick comes out clean.

That's my story for now...and I'm sticking to it.

Theme Karaoke Nights & Fish Frys at The Red Fez Cafe & Lounge

We've been having a blast over at The Red Fez Cafe and Lounge with our Theme Karaoke and Fish Fry Nights....this week will be a blast from the past too !!
The first Friday night in July, we did a 1950's theme night - Elvis and Marilyn were there (okay - we had pictures of them on the wall...), Bazooka Joe gum made an appearance on all the tables, poodle skirts, cat eye glasses, and sneakers were spotted on many of our friends.  We be-booped our way through the night, and enjoyed 50's themed "Fonzie" Burgers, "Daddy O's" Malts, "Eve With A Lid On It" Apple Pie Ala Mode...and but of course our great Atlantic Cod Fish Baskets !

Last week, it was the 1960's California Girls and Beachboys Theme...fish nets, ski boards, pink flamingos and flip flops were spotted all over the place, and of course our featured special for the night was our "Eric Von Zipper" Fish Fry Basket, along with "Beach Party Bingo" Tuna Salad, and "Annette's & Frankie's" Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

This Friday (July 15th), we are going Woodstock Crazy...it's all about being there or being square, and our specials that night will be "Alice's Kitchen" Sloppy Joes with Onion Rings, "The Man's" Swedish Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes and Green Bean Casserole, and our awesome "Far Out" Chocolate Fondue River...Make sure to get your tie dyed shirt on, and you'll be eligible for discounts on our groovy food !!

Next week...it's going be a Party Hardy night with a trip back to the 80's...Our gnarly menu for this night will be a "Totally Cool" Taco Salad, a "Phat" Pizza with Ham & Pineapple, and our "Radical" Strawberry Shortcake....Hairbands of the world unite - and stop on over to The Red Fez Cafe & Lounge, 450 S. Tucson Blvd.

Last but not least, on July 29th, we're doing a "Christmas In July" theme night...Hopefully, just the thought of this will cool us all down !  Our menu specials will be "Good Tidings" Hot Turkey sandwiches with Mashed Potatoes and Cranberry Sauce, "Baby It's Warm Outside" Christmas Salad with Ham and Cranberry Vinagrette, and "Deck The Halls" Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream...Santa may just show up if you've been good girls and boys !

Every Friday night we've been having a blast - so come join us !
We're also taking reservations for Company Karoake Parties (reserved seating and discount menu tickets), and if you're looking for a place to have a birthday party - look no farther !  Parties of 15 or more will receive free Birthday Cake and Ice Cream, but...you must call in advance to reserve your tables (520-690-0146) !
